  • Postwar Life: After the war, Bascom returned to Newport, worked as a carpenter, married Louella Haven, had two children, and died in 1911.
  • Newport’s First Meetinghouse: Built in 1793 for worship and town meetings, later replaced and repurposed, with some materials reused in local homes.
  • 250th Anniversary Book: Newport Historical Society compiled a commemorative book in 2011 for the town’s 250th anniversary, including community stories and historical information.
